Our TEDx event, titled TEDxYouth@UWCDilijan is a youth event that focuses on giving and providing a platform for youths to be inspired, informed, and motivated given today’s climate and world issues. Created by students for students, our event centers on the theme- The Next Generation: Fight or Flight which focuses on starting important discussions on the involvement of the youth as the biggest stakeholders, and future leaders. Our event’s unique name is due to its location being set in UWC Dilijan, an international school affiliated with the UWC movement and the only kind in the Caucasus region which has over 80 nationalities represented. It is set to be held on the 3rd of April 2022 and it includes speeches from different individuals of different ages, professions, nationalities, and perspectives.

Alexander Phokine

Sasha Phokine is like no other, young yet wise, quiet yet vibrant. He is a Russian student who has a love for learning languages and has impressively read all parts of Cat detective. He loves solving math, cooking and drawing. His speech which reflects his complex thinking is titled How ageism keeps society from progress as a result of his experiences.

Alicja Wolinska

UWCD student
Alicja is a UWC Dilijan student from Poland, an accomplished news writer, social committee representative, and an experienced competitive skier. She loves windsurfing, travel photography and aerial yoga.

Angelic Gerona

Angelic Shaine L. Gerona is a UWC Dilijan College alumna, youth activist and actress.

Anna Mkrtchyan

Anna Mkrtchyan is an IB Diploma student in the Republic of Georgia. She is interested in the existing complex relationship between history, politics and gender studies and she plans to continue her education in the social sciences field.

Armi Mkrtchyan

Armi Mkrtchyan is from Hrazdan, a town in Armenia. They are passionate about making social change and want to pursue their career in a related field - working at nonprofit fields to ensure transparency of institutions in Armenia.

Chris Yeager

Head of Faculty of Humanities, IB Economics Teacher
Chris Yeager from The United States & Belgium recently joined the UWC Dilijan community as the Humanities Head of department and a prized Economics teacher. During his free time, he enjoys traveling, cooking and Scuba diving.

Daniela Maserian is Syrian-Armenian ESL teacher and a student at JCU University.

Khachatur is a business development manager and business development specialist.

Lili Hovhannisyan

Kindergarten Assistant Teacher
Lili Hovhannisyan is a young, vibrant Armenian Teacher and volunteer coordinator. She is the Youth rights ambassador against Covid 19 and is renowned as the Young Changemaker of Dilijan. She enjoys making Carpets, volunteering, crafting and playing Frisbee.

Malek Soufi

UWCD student
Malek is closely tied with his Syrian community and is a regular volunteer as well as an organizer of numerous workshops in science writing. He is a pioneer for experimental science in secondary institutions and he enjoys playing table tennis and writing content.

Maud Bijl de Vroe

Teacher of English and Theory of Knowledge
Maud Bijl de Vroe from The Netherlands is an educator that has dabbled in experimental and traditional teaching forms. She enjoys reading and various outdoor activities. Her speech focuses on how you do not always have to challenge yourself.

Natalia Banos Delgado

UWCD Student
Natalia originates from Cartagena de Indias in Colombia and she is an award winning public speaker, a seasoned MUN delegate, organizer of Peace Pen Pal and other non profits. She is also an avid writer and the leader of the writing club at UWCD.

Panagiota Bouterakou

Panagiota Bouterakou is a second year student studying in Armenia, and she hails from the beautiful country Greece

Robert Babaian

Robert Babaian is a 19-year-old Physical-Mathematical High School alumnus and is taking a gap year to explore his passions for both arts and sciences. His love for physics and drawing has been evident since childhood. In his spare time, he enjoys delving into deep theory in physics, math, and other natural sciences, drawing, reading books on physiology, as well as spending quality time with his family and friends.

Siroon Minas

Siroon Minas is a Nigerian-Armenian doctor, plastic surgeon and a TV personality.

Stepan Onyshchuk

Stepan Onyshchuk is a UWC Dilijan alumnus, who was heavily involved in Ukrainian youth politics as well as the student council of the school.

Suzanne is an IB English teacher at UWC DIlijan College.

Veronika Polekhina

Veronika Polekhina is a student at UWC Dilijan College, a Skolkovo entrepreneurship program graduate and winner of the national olympiad in English and Literature.
