In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Dean Mejos

Philosophy Department Chairman and Professor
Dean Edward A. Mejos holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Santo Tomas, specializing in Jean-Luc Marion's notion of love without being. Currently, he chairs the Philosophy Department at the University of Asia and the Pacific, teaching various philosophy courses. His research focuses on existential phenomenology, particularly exploring human dignity, love, and family dynamics' impact on civil society. Apart from presentations from local and international conferences, he has also published articles in peer reviewed journals, has co-authored a philosophy textbook for college students, and is a consultant, editor, and evaluator for DepEd's learning materials. Dean balances his academic pursuits for knowledge while being a loving and caring husband and father.

Justine Danielle Reyes is a licensed psychometrician and researcher based in Manila who works in education. As a psychology undergrad, Dani began to raise awareness on mental health through social media, which eventually led to speaking engagements in different institutions. She worked as a high school teacher for three years, teaching mental health and character education, before she ventured into the world of testing and research in higher education. In 2023, she presented her first research paper about the lived experiences of college students during the pandemic at the 10th National Social Science Congress held in Silliman University, and she was one of the eight emerging film critics who joined the inaugural QCinema Critics Lab. On social media, Dani posts educational content about psychology and mental health on TikTok, runs a blog on Substack and hosts a podcast, both called Therapy for Takeout, where she shares lessons learned in therapy as well as her love for psychology.

Through her engaging educational content, she imparts knowledge and inspiration all over the country. Recognized for her steadfast dedication to democratizing education, she has been honored as a YouTube NextUp Winner, UNDP's Creators for Change Ambassador, and serves on Google Philippines' Advisory Working Group for Digiskarteng Pinay.

Rita Cucio

Research Fellow and Associate Professor of Political Science
Maria Rita Reyes Cucio, Ph.D. is a research fellow and associate professor of Political Science at the Far Eastern University. She earned her BA in Social Sciences, major in Behavioral Studies, from the University of the Philippines Manila in 1995. She completed her Master of Arts in Development Studies degree from the University of Auckland, New Zealand in 2004 with First Class Honors through a scholarship grant from the New Zealand Study Awards. Her PhD in Development Studies degree, earned in 2020, is from the De La Salle University Manila. She is also an alumna of Rotary Foundation's Group Study Exchange Program in 2006 and the Friedrich Naumann Stiftung's International Academy for Leadership in 2013, both held in Germany. Her research interests and publications include indigenous peoples, gender, education, religion, and identity politics.
