In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Andrea Škripeková

Lekárka / Doctor

[SK] Andrea Škripeková je významnou osobnosťou paliatívnej starostlivosti na Slovensku. Svoju kariéru začala na paliatívnom oddelení v NOÚ v Bratislave, kde ihneď pochopila svoje poslanie v medicíne. Neskôr sa rozhodla ovplyvniť zmeny na úrovni ministerstva zdravotníctva, kde iniciovala reformy financovania a legislatívy v tejto oblasti. Dnes vedie Katedru paliatívnej medicíny na Slovenskej zdravotníckej univerzite. Sústredí sa na kvalitné vzdelávanie, mentorstvo a budovanie komunity v odbore. [EN] Andrea Škripeková is a key figure in palliative care in Slovakia. She started her career in the palliative care department at the NOÚ in Bratislava, where she immediately understood her mission in medicine. Later, she chose to drive changes at the Ministry of Health, initiating key reforms in funding and legislation. Today, as head of the Department of Palliative Medicine at the Slovak Medical University in Bratislava, she emphasizes quality education, mentoring, and community building.

Barbora Baďurová

Vedkyňa / Scientist

[SK] Barbora Baďurová, vedkyňa, ktorá skúma tajomstvá ženskej plodnosti a to, čo sa deje s vajíčkami v priebehu života ženy. Svoju cestu začala v Škótsku štúdiom genetiky, a pokračovala v Anglicku, kde ju oslovila téma dynamiky vajíčka po oplodnení. Po návrate na Slovensko obhájila svoju dizertačnú prácu, ktorá priniesla nové poznatky o zmene vajíčiek s pribúdajúcim vekom ženy. V súčasnosti je členkou výskumného tímu v Biomedicínskom centre SAV, kde sa venuje genetike rakoviny. [EN] Barbora Baďurová, a scientist studying the mysteries of female fertility and what happens to eggs throughout a woman's life, began her journey in Scotland with genetics and continued in England, where she was captivated by the topic of egg dynamics post-fertilization. Upon returning to Slovakia, she defended her dissertation, which brought new insights into changes in eggs with advancing age. She is currently a member of the research team at the Biomedical Center of the Slovak Academy of Sciences.

Tanečné zoskupenie / Dance group

[SK] DanceContinent sa riadi víziou upovedomiť a povzbudiť verejnosť v ich záujme o kultúru, pohyb, tanec, komunitu a aj zdravie. Tanečné zoskupenie patrí medzi najúspešnejšie súbory na Slovensku. Za 5 rokov pôsobenia získali niekoľko titulov Majstra Slovenska v sólových aj skupinových disciplínach, ale aj finálové a semifinálové umiestnenia na Majstrovstvách Európy a sveta. [EN] DanceContinent is driven by a vision to inform and encourage the public to their interest in culture, movement, dance, community and health. The dance group is one of the most successful ensembles in Slovakia. During the 5 years of their existence, they won several titles of the Master of Slovakia in solo and group disciplines, as well as final and semi-final positions at the European and World Championships.

[SK] DIS IS MARKĒTA spája to, čo môže na prvý pohľad pôsobiť ako nespojiteľné. Ich hudba s úspechmi doma aj v zahraničí, vrátane hudobných festivalov, medzinárodných rebríčkov a ocenení, je harmóniou rôznych svetov: kultúry slovenských predkov, citlivých tónov klasickej hudby, a predovšetkým energie v textoch, ktoré svoju silu pretavujú do hudobných aranžmánov. [EN] DIS IS MARKĒTA connects what may at first glance seem unconnectable. Their music gained a significant recognition in Slovakia and abroad, including music festivals, international awards and rankings. It exhibits harmony of different worlds: the culture of Slovak ancestors, the sensitive tones of classical music, and above all the energy in the lyrics, which translate power into their sound design.

Dominika Sakmárová

Spisovateľka a popularizátorka čínskej a kórejskej kultúry / Writer and populariser of the Chinese and Korean culture

[SK] Dominika Sakmárová, spisovateľka a popularizátorka čínskej a kórejskej kultúry, vyštudovala sinológiu na Karlovej univerzite. Venuje sa šíreniu poznania o čínskej a kórejskej kultúre, jazyku a dejinách prostredníctvom besied a prednášok. Svoje zážitky a vedomosti čerpala počas pobytov na Taiwane, v Číne a aj v Južnej Kórei, kde žila niekoľko rokov s rodinou. Aktívne sa venuje aj slovenskému folklóru, vedie folklórnu skupinu a je vášnivou zberateľkou krojov. [EN] Dominika Sakmárová, a writer and a promoter of Chinese and Korean culture, studied sinology at Charles University. She is dedicated to spread knowledge about Chinese and Korean culture, language, and history through discussions and lectures. She gained her experiences and knowledge during her stays in Taiwan, China, and later in South Korea, where she lived with her family for several years. She is also actively involved in Slovak folklore, leads folklore group and is a passionate collector of traditional costumes.

Helen Fields

Juraj Buzalka

"[SK] Sociálny antropológ Juraj Buzalka pôsobí na Univerzite Komenského v Bratislave. Zameriava sa na sociálne a politické hnutia, politiku pamäte a náboženstva a zaujíma ho aj transformácia vína. Pod vianočným stromčekom ste si možno našli jeho bestseller "Postsedliaci: Slovenský ľudový protest", kde analyticky rozoberá Slovákov, ich ilúzie a zaužívané predstavy. Prináša nový uhol pohľadu na sociálne zmeny v postsocialistickom svete. [EN] Social anthropologist Juraj Buzalka teaches and researches at the Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia. He focuses on social and political movements, politics of memory and religion. He is also interested in wine transformations. Juraj Pekár

[SK] Juraj Pekár, realizátor a propagátor zelených striech, je spoluzakladateľom firiem One Earth a Prvá Strechárska. Realizoval stavby ako Fuxova, Klingerka, Urban Residence, Volkswagen a Vydrica. Na konte má aj Stavbu roka. Venuje osvete v tomto odbore a inšpiroval množstvo ďalších ľudí, ktorí sa rovnako v tomto odvetví našli a zasvätili mu svoj profesijný život. Píše články, poskytuje konzultácie projektantom a zúčastňuje sa odborných konferencií. [EN] Juraj Pekár, an implementer and a promoter of green roofs, is the co-founder of the companies One Earth and Prvá Strechárska. He realized buildings such as Fuxova, Klingerka, Urban Residence, Volkswagen and Vydrica. He is the winner of award the Construction of the Year. He is increasing the awardness about the green roofs and he has inspired many people in this field. He writes articles, does a consultation to engineer, designers and participates in professional conferences.

Marek Gregor

Bubeník / Drummer

[SK] Marek Gregor, bubeník a lektor na bicie, vstúpil do sveta hudby ako desaťročný, keď začal bubnovať na všetko, čo mu prišlo do cesty. Jeho cesta hudobným svetom ho zaviedla od domácich pódií až po medzinárodné scény. Zahral si so skupinami, ktoré otvárali koncerty pre svetové hudobné legendy ako Duran Duran, Depeche Mode či Mando Diao. V súčasnosti zdieľa svoje bohaté skúsenosti a lásku k hudbe ako lektor bicích, kde vedie ľudí všetkých vekových kategórií k objavovaniu a sile rytmu. [EN] Marek Gregor, a drummer and drum instructor, entered the world of music at the age of ten when he started drumming on everything that came his way. His journey through the music world has taken him from local stages to international venues. He has been part of bands that have opened for world music legends such as Duran Duran, Depeche Mode and Mando Diao. He now shares his experience and love of music as a drum instructor, guiding people of all ages to discover and embrace the power of rhythm.

Okrem toho, jeho organizácia spája ľudí, ktorí túžia po spoločenských zmenách, s inštitúciami, ktoré držia kľúče k realizácii týchto zmien. Martin sa zameriava na výzvy a stratégie efektívneho altruizmu, ktoré umožňujú jednotlivcom sústrediť svoje úsilie a zdroje tam, kde je to najviac potrebné a kde môžu mať skutočný dopad. [EN] Martin Smrek, an activist and a founder of non-profit organization Humánny Pokrok. He defends animals freedom and strives for a sustainable world without cruelty. His organization connects people who desire social change with institutions that hold the keys to implementation of the respective measures. Martin explores the challenges and strategies of effective altruism - which enables individuals to focus their efforts and resources where it is needed most and where they can make a real impact.

Martin Šveda

Geograf / Geographer

[SK] Martin Šveda pracoval ako výskumník na Geografickom ústave SAV. Momentálne sa na Univerzite Komenského venuje problematike suburbanizácie, významného trendu, ktorý postupne mení okolie slovenských miest. Využívaním údajov z mobilnej siete dokáže analyzovať pohyb ľudí a ich denné rytmy. Jeho prístup umožňuje porozumieť denným rutinám a migráciám obyvateľstva, no aj pochopiť hrozby, ktoré pre ďalšiu generáciu predstavuje iracionálny urbanistický rozvoj. [EN] Martin Šveda worked as a researcher at the Slovak Academy of Sciences. He is currently at the Comenius University in Bratislava researching on the issue of suburbanization, an important trend that is gradually changing the surroundings of Slovak cities. He analyzes the movements of people and their daily rhythms using data from the mobile network. His approach allows to understand the daily routines and migrations of the population and also to realise the threats posed to the next generation by irrational urban development.

Martina Pauková

[SK] Martina Pauková, ilustrátorka, ktorej práca je známa nápaditými farebnými paletami, zahŕňa témy ako domácnosť, pracovný život, vzťahy ale aj interiér či technológie. Študovala Grafickú komunikáciu a následne Ilustráciu v Anglicku. Medzi jej klientov patria spoločnosti Google, Apple, The Economist, Shopify a The New Yorker. V súčasnosti ju zastupujú dve popredné ilustračné agentúry: Agent Pekka (Helsinki) a Making Pictures (Londýn). [EN] Martina Pauková, an illustrator known for her imaginative colour palettes, covers topics such as home, work, relationships, as well as interiors and technology. She studied Design for Graphic Communication and Visual Arts: Illustration in England. Her clients include Google, Apple, The Economist, Shopify and The New Yorker. She is currently represented by two leading illustration agencies: Agent Pekka (Helsinki) and Making Pictures (London).

Tine Melzer

Autorka, umelkyňa a výskumníčka / Author, artist, and researcher

[EN] Tine Melzer engagingly combines the philosophy of language with visual arts and literature. She studied art and philosophy in the Netherlands and completed her doctorate in England. Melzer has published the award-winning transdisciplinary books Taxidermy for Language-Animals and Atlas of Aspect-Change, and recently published her novels Alpha Bravo Charlie and Do Re Mi Fa So. She teaches at art academies across Europe, currently in Switzerland. She reveals how words and images shape our thinking, our linguistic practices and our view of the world. [SK] Tine Melzer pútavým spôsobom spája filozofiu jazyka s výtvarným umením a literatúrou. Študovala výtvarné umenie a filozofiu v Holandsku a doktorát získala v Anglicku. Od roku 2004 prednáša na európskych umeleckých univerzitách a v súčasnosti pôsobí ako profesorka na Univerzite umenia v švajčiarskom meste Bern. Odhaľuje ako slová a obrazy formujú naše myslenie, naše jazykové postupy a náš pohľad na svet.
