Giles Oldroyd studies interactions between plants and beneficial microorganisms, both bacteria and fungi, that aid in the uptake of nutrients from the environment. He is currently director of the Crop Science Centre, a professor of crop science at the University of Cambridge and the president of the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center as of October 2025.
